Go for it Warren, its a very elegant looking set. The 20mm's will drive you nuts but it will give the OOB Mo a huge boost.
You can always moonlight selling "Roo skin steering wheel covers " online

Here's a bit of trivia for you.. the sailor who steered the Missouri into her anchorage in Tokyo Bay for the surrender ceremony was, Ed Kalanta, Quartermaster 3rd Class.

Wow, that is amazing. I bet it'll be expensive set as well considering the size of the kit, but a must if you want to have a topnotch MO.

I think you may be right Mike. But I must have patience in this case.

For those who care about accuracy, remember that the kit hull's top edge is noticeably banana-shaped, which creates havoc for defining the correct waterline, and with no change in radius pitch near the front turret (Trumpeteer's 1/700 kit is the same):




Also the lower rear hull is entirely a work of science-fiction, the post-mortem being discussed here:

Similar issues on the other 1/200 Trumpeteer WWII ships...

I've switched to 1/350 while I wait for the current crop of 1/200 to become serious kits. Of note is that the 40 year old Nichimo destroyers are very nice and well-detailed kits, clearly a cut above the more recent batch of 1/200 subjects...

Does anyone know the differences between the MK1 sets for the 1/200 Missouri and the Pontos? They are all expensive and I wanted to get the most for my money. Any advise appreciated.

P.S. Was the deck blue or teak when the surrender took place?

I think we all care about accuracy, Gaston. But I would hazard to say that most of us also enjoy building more than nitpicking.
