Hi Julian great job with the weathering I picked one of these kits up at Telford last week and I will be using your build for a reference guide to help me when I get round to it

Great work and thanks for keeping us all updated. I ordered the paint chemistry and got it last week. Gonna give it a try this week. Plenty of time now, as the weather here in Michigan has really turned to winter.

Couldn't find the Windsor & Newton stuff, but this is what I did get. Well see how the brush work goes. Thanks for the advice.

Julian,

great work on the weathering. I completely agree with your assessment, however, warm, humid environment and salt water would do a good job...I think the amount of rust you created relents that very nicely! And I do love the 'green beard', on the pics that looks absolutely real!

EJ, just on a sidenote - funny to see your stuff with German explanations up in the first line - looks almost as if they were produced for sale in DEU and then ended up being shipped to the US - and we on our end buying stuff from your side of the ocean. Interesting developments these days with online shopping - but extremely helpful for our hobby!!

Cheers,

Great job on the weathering Julian,

The marine growth effect along the waterline is looking very effective.

Great job on the waterline "Beard" Julian.

It's something that's so often overlooked on weathered ships...

I am pulling the plug guy's. It's been a fun trip since 2005 and it was a real blast since 2010 when I started doing some blogs. I think you all will have noticed that my heart wasn't really into it anymore the last couple of months here. It has been great chatting with the "regulars" who popped in to look at my latest antics and I will miss you. Thing is if you don't like the way the place you are staying is run it is usually better to leave and look for something more comfortable.
Goodbye gentleman,
cheers,
Julian

Julian, I am sorry to see you go-you will be missed!

Somehow these seem very sad times to me in terms of model making. What with the demise of WEM, you're leaving our community, and to boot I will have very limited time to hit bench in the next 3-4 years due to 'other commitments', somehow seems to take the shine off things...

Hi Julian,

Sorry to see you go. As a newbie I have beenentertained as well as instructed by your blogs and you can't do better than that. The Channel Adversaries with Warren and Daniel was a highlight.

I hope you find a more comfortable home!

cheers

Holy smoke!

I am at a loss for words which for anyone who knows me is a rarity.

I know you weren't to happy a wee while ago but I thought it had resolved itself.

Clearly not.

You have been a superb contributor, your work inspirational and your sense of humour will be sorely missed.

We have never met or even swapped a PM Julian however I feel a profound sense of loss over you leaving the forum.

You know where we are and you will be warmly welcomed back with open arms anytime.

Cheers

Hi Julian!

I didn't know what to say when I saw your post yesterday...I can only second pretty much everything that was said above. I enjoyed watching each and every project you showed here!! And I am really sad to see you going. Russ is right, quite a sad time for modeling - WEM out of business, you are pulling the plug here, and some months ago my main source for barrels and PE in Germany closed their doors as well...

You made a decision, which I respect - however, I still don't quite understand it

All the best for you and I hope I can find a build log of yours someplace to follow your outstanding work!!

Jan
