That it is ER!!

Thanks Mike! Glad to have you along for the ride!

Well the time has come to start getting the hanger deck walls together. This step is fairly straight forward as there are only a small handful of pieces. The walls are detailed nicely and once you add a few vents and doors things begin to come alive.

As you can see there is little is no interior detailing other than the floor. My thought, mind you this is a small one, is to add some detail just to give some flavor to the inside.

Like I said, not much will be seen...unless you get a penlight and stick it in the hole...LOL!!

There is a section that needs to be built around the forward deck elevator if you plan on showing the elevator in any position other than up.

Some PE coming out of the box already. Here on the stern a few ladders get placed. The keen eyed will see a casualty of handling for the pics!

The external elevators popped up in the instruction next. There is some PE involved in these two. Grabbing my trusty Gator Glue I hit the bench....

These look great I thought. Gallery did well even if the framing is a bit off from the original. Close enough I thought

So I will spend some time thinking about adding something in the way of some interior detailing. Next up is a bunch of exterior ladders and platforms from the shinny stuff!

As always...thanks for having a LQQY!!

On the fly here! Seems to be a lot of things on the move at the moment...LOL!! Nothing different there though!! Anyway, here is where thing lie:

With all the tiny plastic stuff installed on the upper hull section...hangar deck to flight deck, it was time to break out some of the shiny stuff. First off the block was bending up a bunch of stuff that gets installed arounf the perimeter of the hull.

The side crane was one of these parts...I decided to go the soldering route to keep things nice and tight:

After the PE fun I needed to add a little bit of color to the inside as I am leaving the two large hanger doors open. I checked to see how much would actually be seen...not much but I still decided to add a small amount of details near the openings.....

This of course is not accurate but as I said, you can't see very much in there and even less after the elevators go in. A quick priming was laid down using both Vallejo's Grey and Black.

Everything was followed up with a little white on the walls and ceiling.

See, now imagine a large elevator sitting right in the way...LOL!! Well, it is time to glue the deck down I think so I can move forward! Once glued the pile of shiny stuff will get installed around the outer edge!

As always...thanks for taking the time to drop in for a spell!!

Really nice work so far and a different subject for a change from the usual WWII and modern era carriers.

I'll keep watching.

Thanks Stefan!! I guess you can call this project different!

Thank Tony!! I do wish they added a little more details to the interior walls...even though you can see it unless you get right up to it with a pen light! The compliment of PE is nice...just about right I think!!

Thanks ER!! Appreciate it!!

I appreciate you taking the time to check things out way, way, way back at the end of November!! My apologies for not getting back to you sooner on the replies!!

Michael, thank you very much!! There are some great details to the ship and yet there are still a few things, mainly the EPM's which I mentioned below.

Thank you Mardis!!

Many thanks Joe!! Yeah, there is a healthy amount to go around on this one!!

Much appreciated Jan, thanks!!

Thank you Simon!

Well this is not going to be anything in the way of an earth shattering update, but it something just the same! After picking up the pices from the holidays and a few other things going on, this one makes it back to the bench.

There are several detail pieces getting attached at this point; mostly catwalks and platforms but there is some PE in the mix as well.

There are a few of these little fiddly parts to get installed but things start to fill in nicely. One little criticism I have about this kit is definitely the EPM's. They seem to be riddled through out the lower half of all the platforms. I think it's probably best to try and punch out a bunch of 2 and 3mm disks from 0.0010 styrene and glue them in versus filling followed by some cah-razy sanding!! But I digress...

Yeah the elevator does look a little wonky in the shot above. Both elevators are designed to be able to move if you want. With the constant maneuvering of this big girl from her back to her front and back again, it's been going up and down!!

The next order of business will be a few more bits of plastic, a few dozen angle brackets out of PE to hold up all the catwalks and then I can start to rip on the Island!!

As always, thanks for swing in!!

Hey there Todd.

I lashed out and bought this one when it came out as well, but as usual I am now waiting for the PE sets to be released before I jump in.

Looking good by the way, the elevator framing really helps doesn't it.

Cheers

Thanks Warren!! Appreciate you taking the time to swing by! The kit is pretty nice, like I said, you will find a few EPM's down under platforms and whatnot, but nothing you can't handle! I agree with you on the elevators, they do add a lot of eye candy. I am hoping to crack into that island this weekend!! Should be fun!!

The Elevators look good in place. after all that work in the hanger do you intend to have them lowered?

Todd, this kit looks really good, and you have done some solid work on the model so far. I guess that old Revell 1/540 Wasp in my stash is never gonna get built now...

Thanks for the pictures - keep 'em coming!

Thanks a bunch Simon! On the fence with the elevators...maybe one down. Crossing bridges as they come up...LOL!!

Thanks Bryan, appreciate it!! She is big! As a build OOB, this is not too hard of a kit. I could see someone wanting to and also being able to hyper detail this all the way.

Thank you Jan!! Glad to have you along!

Thanks ER! Big guns...LOL!! Well, they're not that big, but they are guns...below!

Thank you very much Sean! 'bout the build and the pics. I have been actually struggling to photo this monster! I have been so used to armor and figs that picture booth I made is not quite up to this scale...LOL!! Working things out along the way!!

Thank you Tim! The kit is not bad and I appreciate the kind words. Funny that you mentioned the Wasp. I have the same kit in the stash. Been waiting to buy the GMM upgrade and have the Starfighter decals I picked up from a friend. Planning a nice little build of the Randolph at some point. My dad served on her in the 60's and the configuration is close as it's going to be without crazy hull modifications. One of these days the lid will get cracked!!

My apologies for the delay in responding. Been a little busy with all sorts of things hobby related as well as this lovely storm that just rolled through and dumped close to 3 feet of snow in the yard...LOL!!

The update...looks like I am pretty much done with PE on the hull and deck section for the moment. Various catwalks and ladders have been added.

All of the added bling Gallery added for angle brackets have been glued in place...

Next order of business will be the island! I have the parts all laid out right now and will get rolling soon on it!

So back to the bench I go!! Thanks for swinging by an having a look-see!!
