Thanks for sharing. That is some model. Can you imagine, those Japanese guys get paid to play with the worlds biggest toy ship in a bathtub?

That's a nice site you linked to. Is it yours?

Now I don't want that kind of big. Where the hell would I put it? The lenght of that kit is longer than the height of my door! :-)

......and some decent weathering and proper 'pin' washes too!

Now that's my kind of scale!!!!

Actually, I would also like to know more about this movie, what was it called? "Rengo Kantai'?
What's it about? Midway? model building?......no wait!.....don't tell me, Godzilla goes back in time!?!

It looks good to me, I heard the builders had access to the remaining actual plans (Most, if not all were destroyed in WWII to prevent the enemy from gaining access to them), I doubt that they would make such a simple mistake on such a big ship.

I see it better now, the pics I saw earlier made it look a bit 'cut-off'.... Look at the close-ups on the secondaries, not too impressive..Jim

I agree, the model as shown in these pictures is not very detailed, the model that was finally used in the movie had a lot more added detail. Afterall, this beast was built in only three months time.

I too would be most interested in finding out about Rengo Kentai. Anybody here had the opportunity to see it or find out storyline?

The movie can be found here: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=TDV-2755D

It is only in Japanese, movie was made in 1981. It's about the Japanese Navy during WWII, they concentrate more on the Yamato then any other ship. Movie is very good, if you understand Japanese that is.
