Sure, It'd love to see some Verne-Nautilus', Seaviews and such!
It'd be great if Moebius Models could get their "Fantastic Voyage" Proteus out in time for the campaign.

An example of one of the cool kind of pets you can have when in the submarine services.

Great Pic Michael,
He is a handsome chap.
No issues with Fictional subs, there are some interesting kits of that Genre.
Cheers.

I think I will cavitate into this campaign. The Indianapolis kit I am building for the Cruiser Campaign came with an I-58 and instead of letting it collect dust.
Im thinking of a little DIO meeting at sea, seaplane delivering the mail and maybe the location of one unescorted American heavy cruiser, dum dum dum.
- What Japenese 1/350 seaplane kits would you guys recommend/be fitting for the late war period?
Thanks in advance,
Bryan

Bryan,
After a quick check, I could find no current 1/350 kits available of the aircraft I was thinking of - the H6K 'Mavis' and H8K 'Emily' flying boats.
Hasegawa did make a 1/350 kit of the IJN Destroyer 'Yukikaze, 1940' that came with an H8K but I don't think it's currently offered by Hasegawa.
For diorama ideas, I'd recommend the Combined Fleet website that details the ships of the IJN. They have a submarine section that tracks the tabular movement of many of the patrols of IJN submarines.
And I still hope someday (within my model-building lifetime) someone will release another 1/72 IJN fleet Submarine kit!

Thanks Michael,
I had stumbled across the combined fleet website, it helped me to understand why the I-58 didnt have its own planes but more manned torpedoes (scary idea!) instead.
Combrig makes a H6K2 but it costs $54, thats out of my league.
I think Hasegawa makes a set of three little sea planes in 1/350 but like everything Hasegawa it is also very expensive.

Bryan,
Hasegawa was my first thought of 1/350 aircraft but I could not find it for their current listings. The fact the offered an H8K with the Destroyer kit suggests the have molds in existence and maybe had done a release of it in the past that may be floating around at various retailers.
Either way, I look forward to your I-58 build here.
And your Frigate build has been fascinating to follow!

Howdy Y'all
I just signed up for this campaign. I'll build a 1/700 scale sub, possibly this Gato class model.

Take care,
Don "Lakota"
