Still remember when Pyro released this kit as both the Olympia & the Maine, by the simple expedient of molding the 'Maine' in gray plastic, instead of white like the Olympia.

That’s right! The two kits were almost identical except for a few simple alterations to try to make the cruiser Olympia resemble the battleship Maine. In the Maine version of the kit, two sponsons were provided to attach to the hull sides to enable the turrets to protrude over the sides as on the Maine, and the funnels were repositioned closer together. The result was a freak that looked very little like the USS Maine! This pitiful attempt to stretch the Olympia molds apparently wasn’t a commercial success, and the "U.S. Battleship Maine" kit was soon discontinued.
