Round 2, under the Lindberg label, has reissued Pyro’s USS Olympia.
This kit is a reissue of Pyro’s USS Olympia kit from the late 1950s. It was later marketed by Life-Like in the 1970s and subsequently by Lindberg. Originally released around the time of Revell’s Olympia in a similar scale, this model is an entirely unrelated effort. Unlike the Revell kit, this one is very abbreviated with generalized details, simpler assembly and fewer parts. Fit is reasonable and assembly can be completed quickly, but the result is toylike.
According to Round 2, who have been reissuing many old Lindberg kits:
Item No: HL402
Scale: 1/240
Parts: 78
Markings: waterslide decals
Skill Level: 3 (ages 12 and up)
Glue assembly, paint required
“The USS Olympia became famous as the flagship of Commodore George Dewey at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War in 1898. This highly detailed and authentic model kit is molded in white and comes with a display stand”.
The USS Olympia is available from various on-line retailers ranging in price from $30.00 to $35.00 (US) plus shipping.
