Hi everyone, long time no see.

First, its great to see al the amazing work that everyone is presenting on these pages. I have been a silent stalker for the past year with minimal interaction but the time has come to change that.


This will be my build log for the 1/350 Very Fire USS Missouri. This will be an out of the box build so as to give everyone a clear picture of the quality and build of this kit.

---NOTE: Very Fire Released an Upgrade kit for the USS Missouri, due to this release all follow on kits will not have the PE that is included in the kit that I am building----

I've seen some Very Fire 1/700s I want to build but want to see their quality first!! Will be following!

Hey everyone,

So here are the first pictures of the build. I started with the hull. Very Fire gives you a split hull with three braces and pins along the front, bottom and rear.







I used a combination of tape and clamps to hold the hull together while gluing. The only issue I found when applying the tape was that there is a warp on both halves of the hull which splits the aft end of the hull.



This proved a little more than tape could fix but a clamp was not an option because of the curves. So instead of gluing this portion I left it unglued for now and will readdress it once the rest of the hull is secured together.









So that's it for now but more to come soon.

Oh, if your curious that is the IJN Aircraft Carrier Shokaku and the IJN Destroy Ashigumo in the back of the picture. I have made some progress on the Shokaku but the PE alone is very taxing. Ill update the blog soon enough.

Hey all,

A rare event occurred which allowed me to get into the model room in the evening time. I went ahead and started on the foredeck.

The first step of the instructions call for connecting the two halves of the hull. The following steps call for assembly of the main guns, the 5" auxiliary guns, and some other piddly parts such as the crane. I couldn't bring myself to start those yet as I am waiting to see if I can get a hold of the USS Missouri upgrade set to incorporate into the model. So I began with the foredeck.

The first step with the foredeck calls for adding the turret rings. There are two and they are mounted underneath the deck.






So I added the turret rings. The pin holes could use with a little widening either by drill or razor tip. I discovered this after mounting them but they fit just fine with a little added pressure.





After mounting the turret rings the instructions call for adding all of the items mounted on the foredeck. Here is where I deviated from the instructions again.

Instead of mounting the ammo boxes, 20mm AA guns and the like I went a head and attached the foredeck to the hull.

The fit was good but there is a need for some clamps due to the bow in the deck.







There is a little bit of a gap but nothing major.

Well that is it for tonight, the foredeck is curing to the hull. More to follow tomorrow.

Michael - Thank, it is good to be back and in the saddle. I have missed building. So far the Very Fire is an amazing kit. Exceptional detail. Really looking forward to continuing the build.

For a new company they are on the fast track with release for a lot of new kits, upgrade sets, and wooden decks. It pretty amazing.


Mark - You are spot on, having a good set of clamps is crucial.

Hi Everyone,

I know I said that I will be moving somewhat fast on this build but I just received word from Very Fire that they are going to provide me with one of their new USS Missouri Upgrade Sets.

So in order to add that to the build I will be taking a pause until it arrives. I don't want to get too far a head and make a mistake.

Once I received the upgrade kit Ill conduct and in box review and then continue with the USS Missouri Build.

It will take about two to three weeks for the kit to get here, so for now Ill go back to working on the Shokaku.

Very Fire is definitely moving along with their releases.

Their next release is the USS New Jersey, sometime this month.

Not sure what their next release will be but your probably right.

Very nice project! I‘ll be following wirh interest. I built the Tamiya kit 20 years ago, it‘s still on my bookshelf. It‘ll be interesting to see the difference in molding tech since then.

Thanks for stopping by. It is quite a bit to handle but I am looking forward to it.

I will not be using anything other than what the kit and the upgrade provide. Well with the exception of some figures to round oud out the build.

My intent is to give everyone a clear picture as to the quality of the Very Fire products. So far from what I can see they are very much on par with Pontos and a bit cheaper at that.
