Finally, the Bismarck kit arrived on Thursday.
Got some bigger bits together, among with primary and secondary armament. What can i say, it seems like very nice kit so far.

Looking good so far, Karl. I like the foam sea base.

The base needs a lot of work though, and some fixing which im working on.
Got the turrets one main and secondary battery painted today.

Those turrets look really good. I haven't seen the Flyhawk Bismarck "in the flesh" yet, but from the look of things it is worlds beyond the Aoshima 1/700 monstrosity I built as a kid!

Cant comment, only ever had revell 1/570 Bismarck before and this is much much better.
Funnel and accompanying hangars got most of PE, just some platforms on funnel left. Base has got two more layers of paper as of now and is starting to look ready for paint.

One thing I came across; even though there are railings for the upper superstructure/bridge decks, they are not mentioned or located on the instruction sheet. There were 4 - 6 railing lengths to be applied. I placed all other railing first and assumed anything left over went on the superstructure. Through trial and error I found out which levels the remaining railing went on, and where.
You will be very happy with the finished model - undoubtedly the best 1/700 (or any scale!) Bismarck on the market. I just don't understand the "haters" who claim the kit was too complicated. First they want better detailed kits, then they bash them for too many parts!

There are haters for this kit? Never expected that but i guess some will always find something to complain about.
I will only add railings after i got decks painted and weathered, so i dont knock any off.

Flyhawk kits are new to me too. Seeing this Bismarck, I ordered HMS Campbelltown, to access the quality and kit engineering for myself. Would have rather had Ward, for I always wanted to do Edsall, for personal reasons, buy the vendor was out of stock.

From what has already been posted in pictures it is very hard to see why someone would dislike this kit.

I dont know how visible itll be once i paint it but some PE on funnel is seriously fumbled, might replace with wire.
I will try to get hull done for most part during weekend.

Received my Flyhawk Campbelltown today, and must say I now know why everyone seems to have good things to say about Flyhawk. Appears to be a splendid kit, and I owe my introduction to Flyhawk, by watching this Bismarck build. Thanks.

Looking a the base for both ships, outside of the width the lengths are almost the same. With both ships superstructures a close match I can see why the British mistaken the Prinz Eugen for the Bismark at the start of the battle.

I did get hull weathered buttt i forgot the gray bands which used to be swastikas.. Ought to fix that.

Some progress, cranes, the platform behind mainmast, catapults and another platform.. Which took about 4 hours alone.
The overpainted baltic stripes are nigh invisible by now.
