Here is a photoof the Blockade Runner. I'm still working away at it - the rigging is slow, but I'm sure I'll be finished in a couple of weeks. I've adding the fore topsail, and taped on a jib sail (pardon me if the terminology is wrong - I'm new at this.

Still to do:

add lifeboats, paddle wheels and paddle boxes, anchors, more rigging and finishing the stand (I adapted the kit stand which wasn't very solid)

Thanks. Still lots to do. This is my first ship model since the 1960's, and then we didn't have the resources we have now (internet) and so it's taking much longer than I would have liked. My next model will be another ship model - Hellers 1/150 Le Corsaire - a lateen rigged small vessel of the Mediterranean - much less rigging

Only 1 month left, everyone. Do I have it right? No one has finished yet?

I am not going to finish. Stalled and lost all enthusiasm for the Missouri. Hopefully will pick it up again in the new year

Boy, do I understand that! My modeling mojo has disappeared. I also hope to get it back starting with the New Year.

Yikes, loosing all your modeling mojo!

Luckily I have the mojo, just not for that particular project.

My Iwo Jima is going well and I have several campaigns lined up for 2020 already across planes, vehicles and hopefully more ships

Richard,
Your blockade runner is really looking sharp. She looks ready for her maiden voyage!
Keep it up!

Friends - I have come down with a bad cold, or flu, and I'm afraid I will not be able to finish my ship before tomorrow night.

I don't have a lot to do - lifeboats, two sets of braces, jib sheets, finish the stand, and probably something else which I don't remember right now.

Happy New Year to you all, may 2020 see you healthy and bring you much happiness.

I'll allow a 2-week extension (January 15). Hope that helps.

It will be up to another person to run Dry-Docked 2020.

I'm pretty sure I can finish by the 15th. I still have to rig the bowsprit - braces are done, anchors are on and so are the lifeboats.

Then a few paint touch ups and I'm be done.

Thanks for the extension!

More photos of the steamer...

Summary - side wheel steamer of the type used as a blockade runner during the U.S. Civil War. After the war several found their way to Canada to be used as packet ships, hence the Red Ensign.

This was my first ship model in 50 years. Could it have been a little neater, yes, but I did learn an awful lot about sailing ships in general, mid-nineteenth century steamships, and the involvement of Canada and Britain in the war.
