Hello Everybody,

I am wondering where to find 1/350 chains to replace the molded on ones on my Bismarck. These would replace the chains that are used to hold the anchor.

Thanks in advance,

Sean

Model Expo has everything you would need for ships. http://www.modelexpo-online.com/ I have been buying chain from them for a few years now. The prices are good and they ship fast.

Hi Sean, Most hobby shops that sell wood ships and ecceseries will have a selection of brass chain. Also found in model RR acceseries! About 20 links per inch would be about right.

I've been using this stuff for a while. The chain along with railings just makes these 350 scale kits look marvelous. Love the PE sets for them as they replace the radar antennas and the cranes. Good investments. They end up costing as much as the kit (if you get it from a discounter) but well worth it. Got my chain from a hobby shop that way I could make sure to get stuff that looked to scale. Bought a yard or so of it for something in the vicinity of $5. You usually use under a foot of the stuff for each kit so it really is an inexpensive enhancement

This may be too ambitous but how about chains in 1/700 scale models? I'm currently building a waterline (Tamiya) model of the scharnhorst and adding white ensigns photo etch. I'd like to attempt to model it at anchor on a calm day (i've never built a ship or modelled water before) so may want to find alternative chains to make it look better. Of course i'll be posting questions about how this ship at anchor should look....but i'll leave that question for a later date.

There is brass chain in the proper size for 1/700 ships. I find it at my hobby shop.
I think the brand they sell is called Shipwright or shipworks . I find it in the
Wood ship model acsesseries area.
