I ve finally managed to finish this 1/72 Ancient Greek Triera Ship. 1/72 Zvezda model. Fair enough kit .

Hey that's pretty sweet.
1) How long did it take
2) What did you use to weather it?
3) Where is the crew? LOL....

It overall took me over 3 months but with other projects parallely .
I used many washes and pastels to weather it.
Well the 300 1/72 crewmen are swimming to Wisconsin Nate !!!! Surprise u ll paint them !!!!!!!!

Absulutely Beautiful model! The workmanship you put into this build is awesome. Painting and weathering is great! everything seems to have a touch of realism to it. I bet this was quite the challenge to build, all them ores, sheesh! I have a question. Are those sails real cloth or are they the plasic molded kind? They sure look like cloth! Well I said I was going to lay it on, you need the pat on the back for this build!

Unfortunately the sails were no cloth , plastic pieces that i primed, painted and treated with some white pigment to give them some texture .
I hope they do look good

No crew will be covered guys . The crew was 300 people on that , so if anyone is interested to paint them !!!!!!! Nate is the first canditate !!!!

the Greek lettering says "ΑΙΟΛΟΣ" "EOLOS" WHICH IS THE GREEK GOD OF WINDS in ancient Greek .

Is this a plastic or a wooden kit? If it is plastic, then you are to be commended for an awesome paint job. Did the kit come with the crew (or any figures)? It sure would look spectacular with some on it. No I won't paint them for you...hey you are suppossed to be the figure painter, I just do tanks and battleships. In any case it sure deserves a place of honor in your house, Fantastic job

Well thanks for ur comments guys. My fault that i didnt mention : this one is Zvezda 1/72 plastic kit , everything is plastic.
I really made a big effort to make it look like wood - at least look like it since its not !!!
Well its a pretty big kit , rates over 49 cm long and 28 wide and over 24 tall
There was no crew in there , else i would have painted !!! but no figures in it .

Was a good kit in all, with some plastic parts weaker and easy braking. Lots of ropes to make

glad to see nightmare finished. you spend so much time and effort on that but the result is awesome as always. i liked everything on that triera but the most impressing part for me is the old look of the ropes.
congrats and i am sure you friend will keep in forever.

Outstanding Costas,the weathering to make it look like wood,spot on,you should have got it onto the rowing lake,a gold medal winner for sure :-) whats next.

Squadron sells this kit for a mere $58. They also have a Roman one on sale this month for $40.You might be able to buy some figures for this set...perhaps modify some of the plastic Roman soldier figures.

Fabulous workmanship here. To be truthful I thought I was looking at a wood kit, (and you mention it is plastic). Just a great job on painting and weathering the hull and deck.
