Hi Jim,
I spent 1 1/2 years off and on with this build. Building lots of other models in between. Thanks for your complements!

I have always thought that to be the most beautiful ship in the world. I built mine in 1987. It has survived 4 moves. Whe I moved from Alabama to Texas I taped it to the rear window ledge of my car and transported it myself. Last year I went back and retro fitted brass rails to it. I still enjoy taking it off the self now and then to stare at it. If you love ships, this and a large scale Missouri and Bismarck are MANDATORY kits. Tamiya just did wonderful jobs on all three kits. They are easy straight forward builds and can look absoluely spectacular with even a cheapo Toms brass set. If you want t go full bore then buy the W.E.M. super duper sets to do them up with

LOL, yes it is dusty. It was sitting on my shelf for 6 or 8 months before I pulled it back down to finish it up! Natural weathering you know! :-)
Thanks for your complements mate!

This a very nice example of the ship. The only thing that could improve it would be to blacken the inside of the gun barrels to give them some depth. You did a very nice job on the paint. And from what I can see a very clean build with good fit. I built this model back in 1974 while stationed on Okinawa Japan. It is a very fun kit to build. Thanks for sharing the photos with us and for bringing back some pleasant memories for me.
