That sounds like fun. I think you have to buy all the RC stuff extra though,

At least you don't need much room to "park it" at home!!
But it looks impressive and with excellent details
Best regards,

Thats a awesome looking kit! Is it vacume formed ?
I thought at one time of building one of these. I was into building and racing RC boats. Gas and nitro tunnel hulls and hydroplanes. But I wanted to get into RC warships, and the RC sub had always cought my eye. Best luck on your build, I'm sure you will realy enjoy it!

 Cheers,
Garry

OH.... 1/40 scale...... explains why it's either so large.....
Good luck with the build and hopefully you'll keep us up to date as you build it.

Well, got started on the kit and posted some pictures of the equipment try.
The hull is vacumeformed but the sheet is very thick. Shouldn't be a problem once the bulkheads arre installed.

Got some work done on the forward hull. Kit is pretty basic on details. No panel lines at all.

Hi Steve!
If you're not pleased with the absence of the hull panels why don't you make them yourself?
A good reference is needed, like AOTS Type XXI
I'll can give you the ISBN latter if needed.
Although the process is tedious, it would make a lot of difference - I advise you to do

Skipper,
Yes please. I’ve got some good references but could always use more.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Here are my two references at home:
Vom Original zum Modell: Uboottyp XXI, by Fritz Kohl
ISBN: 3-7637-6000-8
Anatomy of the Ship: The Type XXI U-boat (revised edition) by Fritz Kohl and Eberhard Rossler
ISBN: 0-85177-922-0
I would sugest you with the AOTS book, but the German book has the references of plans that you can order from "Bernard & Graefe Verlag" if you really need them big!
Hope this helped,

Found them, one at Amazon (US) and one at Amazon (DE).
Thanks!

Small update. Got the front hull pieces cut out and ready to assemble. Also picked up a radio. This thing will be huge.

Skipper, thanks for the lead on the books. I got them ordered and on the way.

Got the hull sections finished. What a monster! Just got to get the water tight compartment installed. I'll then be able to get the forward hull attached. Posted a picture of the hull and sail dry fitted.
Skipper,
I'm still in the process of assembling components for the Niger.
