Howdy Garry,
First, I want to thank you for your tireless efforts to give this thing 'legs'......even though you are not the originator of this Campaign you grabbed the guidon of this endeavour with both hands and proclaimed it from the rooftops my friend......Bloody good on ya!
A hearty "Congrats!" goes out to you and all of you salty dawgs lined up in anticipation for this Submariner-based build. It should be a wee bit of fun I think. I personally have always liked Subs. Even though you couldn't forcefeed me in a real one if you were armed with a Vulcan......wouldn't happen.

Maybe because of this, I have
nothing but admiration for those of you who scrambled down into these things and served your country with a long history of silent distinction!.

 Have fun all......and remember..........
"
Dive!...Dive!!....DIVE!!!!!!"

woohoo! can't wait, will be my first naval build ever. However, on the web I've got a bit of an idea of how it's gotta be done. I've seen someone's amazing [uboat or russian sub] which they've modelled in a raging sea with all kinds of sea-based wear. If anyone can tell me who's model this is and where I can see pictures of it (i remember it appearing to be under a plastic bubble, probably in a museum) I would be thankful. it had some great rusted runoff points. Good luck to all

Thanks for the approval! Let's keep the enlistments coming guys and gals! We still have nearly a month to get our kits and reference material ready for the big day...
Now that we are officially a campaign...be thinking about what you would like the award to look like...all you computer guru's offer up your suggestions so we know what we're working toward...

Hi all!!
Here is my proposal for the award to be pinned on everyone that achieve the completion of the "Dive!-Dive!-Dive!" Campaign...

I think that a lot of them are going to be distributed

So far, we are 29!!!! Cool
Comments are most welcome

the award looks good skipper!
this will be a great campaign, haven't build anything yet and I like it already :-)
I'll go for Revell's 1/72 U-Boat, maybe not very suprising choise, but I wanted to build that boat already since the first time I saw the box

This will be my 2nd ship (and 2nd u-boat) ever. I've build Revell's 1/125 U-47 with interior a long time ago already, but I was about 10 years old that time.

Thanks, but lets see if there's more proposals, and then, we may choose the one with more "quorum"

To Martinnn
I can only say it's a good choice! See Tamiya Modelling Magazine, issue 106 for a build and nice paint job references

Submarine Kit Review
Magnificent VII by Marcus Nicholls (pages 54-59)
Marcus builds the impressive Revell 1/72 U-Boat Type VIIc with numerous photos showing the additional detailing of the 88mm deck gun, conning tower and around the hull as well as overall photos showing the subtle weathering of the paint finish. This is an impressive model and large enough to appeal to any modeller wanting to try their hand at something different and if you want to find a home for your U-Boat then check out the full Dry Dock released by Diorama Solutions

haha I'll try, but the one on the pic looks great already.....I need to learn a lot about weathering submarines, never done that before (well I've tried it on my U47, but I did only rust which wasn't very succesfull :-) )

Skipper,
I really like the award suggestion. There would be no mistake as to what campaign it belonged to.
I for one would be proud to receive that one, but you're right, I think think we should give some others a chance to share their ideas first...we have plenty of time....

I'll think about it skipper

maybe something like this: (hope you guys see it's a conning tower)

it's more simple than the ribbon made by skipper, but I think you can see the sub better...

Hey Guys,
Here are my proposals for the award...
The first one is the Submarines badge, the second one is the Submarine Combat Clasp (Silver). Both badges were used by the Kriegsmarine during WW2

I 'd go for Cougar's gold medal, looks very nice!!
Now, if it could just be let's say euh 10 times bigger it would be perfect!!!! :-) :-)
Now for another little question, how do you update your build journal?? I can't find any links to that?

Hi Warvos,
Thanks for the comment

Go to the Campaigns page and click on the DDD Campaign. Under Participant's, look for your name and click on it. You can add/edit your Campaign details there.

ok, thanks Cougar
Would it be possible / interesting enough to make a list or a summary of which model everyone intends to build?
What do you guys think?

Sounds like a good idea

I'm going with the Trumpeter Kilo and, hopefully if I get it finished earlier enough, then the Type 33 as a Russian Romeo.
