Just to show the size of this Mamouth kit, here are some pic's of my Revell Germany 1/72 U-boat compared to my 1/200 Nichimo IXC U-boat. The Revell kit is one big chunk of plastic, 36 1/2 inches long!
These are in progress for the DDD campaign.

Like I said, Jumbo! And a blast to build.
Campaigns still open mates, your welcome to join in!

Gary, WOW, I see you had to register it as a full size boat.
Bet ya if mine goes under the water it comes back up.

What is going on in this thread!!! Some huge "things" we see!!! This is a ship modelling forum, not a real ship construction forum!
Wow huge they are... You ought to have a real port or something for them!

Garry, I could not hold myself and I wish to ask one thing:
Did this ship help you to become a moderator? You attacked the shores of Armorama with your bombardier? :-)
Just kidding, Garry, just for fun. I HAD TO say something about that ship, I could not help myself... It will ruin my dreams tonight, thank you, it is E N O R M O U S ! ! !
Regards.

Garry,
The Amati kit was carred by Model Expo for years...it's 1/72, but an expensive bear of a kit to build...
I still have it, which is why I'll be doing my RoG VIIC as an early one.

I am considering a late entry into this campaign. Soooo.... are the 1/125th U Boats by Revell any good? Especially the cutaway ones?

Yes yes yes...Steve is a stand-up guy providing some incredible stuff...just to give you an idea...
I have a lathe, and I'm pretty good with it, but it's not worth my time and aggravation to do my own parts!!
If you really want barrels and scopes and prop shafts that are top notch, get 'em from Steve. You also should see his barrel sets for some of his other kits, like the Nichimo 200th scale Yamato...
No, he's not paying me, and no, I don't owe him any favors ('cept maybe a beer or two)...nor do I have any vested interest in his company...just passing on the word that he's a quality vendor!! If you want this type of stuff, order it from him. You got my word on it!
Jeff

I know I've recommended Steve's work to more than one of our folks here. As soon as the dust settles a bit from the holidays I plan to pick up the 88mm and 20mm for sure and probably the periscopes as I am starting work on my RG Type Viic kit. Oh and welcome aboard our site. While we are 99 % tanks here, there is a building force of ship lovers here and with both Steve and Jeff contributing info we could definitely expand interest here.

Absolutely Steve...I may be obnoxious at times, well, ok, most of the time

...BUT, I do have a rather large naval library, and I'm always willing to give back to the hobby by helping out however I can.

In fact...once this U-boat group build is done, methinks we should jump into a Fletcher build...any takers??

Gary, while I was looking for things that I could use on my ship, I just happen to see something that they had for your sub, now I don't know if you would be interested, or if anybody else would, but L'Arsenal has decals for your sub the Revell 1/72 Uboot.
They say each set has 16 individual insignias, and a comprehensive instruction notice that also gives 6 different camouflage patterns each. The set sells for 10.00 for EEC customers, and 8.36 for non EEC modelers, postage has to be added in in both cases.
You can find this on their site.
By the way that is in Euros if anybody is interested.
