Santa was good to me this year, 2 new rifles and a sub model! I know what to do with the rifles, it's the sub I got a dilemma with.
There are soooo many after market kits available, which one(s) are you guys using or prefer? I do not think I can get this one completed for Dive, Dive,Dive but for a later project. I saw someplace that somebody was making a resin pressure hull insert for under the PE deck, anybody know who/where? I am also planning on replacing the guns too.

Nautilus models has a wooden deck replacement

Then of course there are figures; there is a new sail with different gun positions type XX11 i think

I have all the scopes/propeller shafts/gun barrels ready to go in brass; CNC machined to exact sizes

Im passing on the pressure hull. You can't see much and a little plastic card and gizmogly will take care of it.

Hi Steve!
Very nice work on your build! And I agree with you about the pressure hull. Its just not worth the bother. Now it might make a good seperate build setting along side the VIIC model! Keep up the good work Steve!

Steve,

Still might get your barrels and scopes. Might think about the shafts.

Any time bud
There are 2 sets ready to go now
1 with shafts and 1 without
both have scopes and barrels

I can't figure it out; some order with shafts/guns and no scopes; some order with everything; some order scopes/guns and don't want shafts (heheeh) tough to get them ready for shipping; i just wait now for the order

But if you need 3mm threaded shafts; they would be specials; the part of the shaft for the plastic props is 2mm; after the bevel it is 3mm
I can make a new program for 3mm both sides of the bevel if needed

I got the Modelbrass photoetched set. Gonna start serious work this week on it. So far bored out all the drain holes, now gotta start cutting away rear and front lowers to install the pe replacements. Haven't looked in detail at the shafts, barrels or scopes but figure on ordering some stuff from Walnutt (Steve Nutall)

Steve B,
I love all the work you've done on your Type VII. Your site will be a huge help when I go to build mine.
I still have to pick up that PE set and I also want get everything Steve N. has for this kit.
I know I won't get to mine before the end of the DDD campaign, but I want everything I will need before I start on this one. Thanks again!

I'm down to the wire now....literally. Been cutting out strips of guitar wire for the rigging. Got the front done, and the two rear are set up and ready to install. Need the rear brace pieces and the railing pieces. Making little people for it, got 5 done so far have 4 more to go...them paint the folks and figure how to rust it realistically..looks like I'll have it done in plenty of time for the 3D campaign. Next campaign is the Dreadnaught and I'm all ready for that, research and the 2 pe sets are already stashed in the kitbox. I think in the interim I'm gonna do my M-60a1 with open grills showing off the verlindin engine kit
