Just posted,news that Dragon will be releasing a 1/700th scale model of the Carrier U.S.S. Essex. Following their recent practice with armor kits, DML has given a wide selection of detail photos covering the salient points of this new release - whic are of course, reproduced here! Is the deck molded in clear plastic as well to show the hanger bay? If so (and it looks like it) that's kinda slick

I think that they are taking the same approach as Tamiya did with their Shimokita (it had a section of the deck molded in clear so that the hangar could be seen).. But still is a most welcome model

From what I have heard, is Dragon is now setting the standard in 700 scale ships. Looking at the pics on this kit, I quite agree. Looks like they've even got a PE set, though you still would have to go out and get a generic railings set . But, alas, I only build 350 scale now and of course Trumpeter made their version equally magnificent.

That is a very impresive looking Carrier in 1/700 scale! Dragon is raising the notch with there 1/700 kits. I built there USS Oakland light cruiser several years ago and was quite impressed with there kit back then!
