here is the first and only prop I'll be making like this; the blades you can see they are bent to reduce the pitch just like the real one
One of my UBoat props for size; and the plastic one for the S100; which is just totally wrong
side view
how big is it? thats my thumb
I might even cast some in resin to make them avail for you S100 builders
But this one is not for sale (I just love it)
and I need it anyway for my swimming pool S100 RC conversion

They certainly are gorgeous steve. I got the kit a couple weeks ago at the Hobby Lobby half off sale for $10. Took a quick look at it. From what I hear it's just as good as the U-boat kit. I've got so many prjects qued up it'll be two years before I get around to it.

Hi Steve!!!
You could really make a resin set of those
I would be interested as well as the U-boat ones.
Considering making them also in resin?
Skipper

The Uboat props are now priced in 3 versions
As a kit; the LH and RH hub and 6 blades; this would be the cheapest; you'd
clean up and profile the blades as much as you want and do the soldering
Price hub is $4 and blades are $3 each; $26 a pair
If you can't solder I can supply already soldered extra $4.50 per prop
If you want the whole hog; but no one would
Fully polished and profiled takes 3/4 hour per blade for this; add $200;
sorry this is very time consuming and if you tried it you'd agree thats
still cheap

Well, that certainly takes ones breath away. Since I don't compete (and I certainly wouldn't enter my U-boat) I guess I can live with painting the kit supplied props brass and calling it a day.

Steve,
Have you considered using these as masters for making resin copies? Considering the steep cost of a finished brass piece or the work involved in creating it I think the better route would be to actually have an affordable and accurate resin replacement. Of course I am no expert...
Don't miss the boat just cause it's not brass!
Cheers,
Jim

Hi Jim
Yes I'll be looking into casting them this week; I'm waiting on resin and RTV; mine just went past it's shelf life
I guess this prop has created quite the interest; must have had 30 emails about getting them; but if you think the UBoat ones are expensive; they are cheap compared to the S100; it's just so small; tough to hold; tough to file; tougher still to polish
really at $26 for the knock down kit of parts for the brass u-boat it's not bad; the blades fit in tight; and soldering is easy; just line them up; place the assembly on the iron; hit the tigger; once the solder flows; it's done
Forgot to add; the prop has the best water action I've ever seen; it really moves a lot of water
