Ok folks,

I fussed with this long enough...so...here she is in pretty much her final form before the paint goes on and I add the armaments, last mast, dive planes and wires.
I primed her today and will lay the first coat of paint on her in a day or two.

I was upset that you can see the seam along the bow at this angle.....I tried

I opened the bridge and added a (what do you call it...a splash guard??) and a lookout's platform on the shears and removed the searchlight and made a new mount.

There she is, next time you see her she'll be painted, weathered, and ready for her sea trials.....provided I don't screw up the paint job.

Good show there Steve! She be looking good mate. That bow seam, I could'nt cover mine up completely either. its hard since it rises up to a ridge anyway. Cant wait to see her all painted up bud!

Yeah,

That ridge was a problem. I cold have sworn I slapped enough putty in there to even out the sides. I think I may have cut the bridge back too far as well. Then I did the unspeakable. I lost (and I've no idea how) the aft crew hatch. So, I made a half way presentable one from scratch. Maybe it'll get lost in the overall appearance of the boat and not stick out like a sore thumb.

Thanks for the kind words

Thanks Skip!

Do you think I cut the bridge back too far? There was a ton of things I could have done to it in the way of small little details...but my not so small fingers would have had a hard time. I think my bridge lights are too big as well. It was an after thought...after I found a photo, but I wish I could have built a (correct term?) bridge helm. Had a shot of the compass and all the other things located there.

Between you and Garry saying that you had problems with the seam makes me feel a little better about mine.

I'd planned to prime the Alfa, 688, and U-boat as well...but I hadn't realized that I only had a quarter of a bottle of primer. So the others will have to wait.

Again, to the both of you, thanks!

Yo ho ho and it's time to go to work.

A Later Edit: I spoke to Frank and he thought I cut the bridge back too far and the fairwater (now I know what that's called) hung out too far (which I sort of suspected it did as well.) *SIGH*
The good news, he told me you can't go wrong on the gray...no standard tint. It was mixed until it looked close to the specs.
