A "e-friend" of mine, who lives in Japan, on another site posted these links about a Japanese made movie on the crew of the Yamato. They're in Japanese, but you can see the ship's set.

Max says it will be called "Otokotachino Yamato" or "Men of the Yamato." According to his wife who read about it in a Japanese language newspaper it will focus on the crew of the ship. He says he'll get me any more information as he gets it. He's a big Yamato fan.

My first 350 scale was the Yamato. ALso built several Yamato/Musashi kits in 700. I wish somone would come out with an initial production Yamato in 350. Had those two extra triple 6" turrets in lieu of the multitude of AA on the sides

zzzguy,
The yamato was not destroyed by a " couple dozen " aircraft. The Yamato, was said to have been hit by 12 to 15 torpedoes, depending on the accounts from different participants in the battle. The reason she was able to sustain so much damage was partly due to her construction and flood control devices which were built into her at her beginning. Also, she was said to have been at by 15-22 bombs.
2 torpedo hits port forward
6 " " " " " " " " " " amidships
2 " " " " " " " starboard
2 " " " " " " " port aft
2 " " " " " " " starboard amidships
You have to remember also, she was attacked by at least 200-350 planes in 3 different waves. Planes from the Hornet, Intrepid, Yorktown, Bennington, San Jacinto, Belleau Wood, Essex, Bataan, Bunker Hill, Cabot and the Hancock (its pilots missed the battle altogether because of bad weather so did not participate), all participated in her sinking. On top of that also, the Yamato was repeatedly strafed as more and more of her anti-aircraft guns were silenced. By the 3rd wave, it was basically a strafe free for all.
Granted, had she gone in a surface battle with other ships, it would have been a site to see. But this vessel still caused a stir among american admirals because she was considered a " super battleship ". Give her some respect.
