Just looking to see who is ambitious out there. With the advent of smaller and smaller R/C cars and boats has anyone(other than me) converted the small model subs and pt boats to Mini R/C class units??

Nope...but if you have photos I would sure like to see one that you have. I guess I'd never thought of ever doing it, but why the heck not? Do your subs travel on the surface or can they be submerged?

Surface runners for the most part, mostly because the little R/C vehicle I cannibalize are only 2 function and that is steering and speed. Although I did once do a U-Boat that I set the dive planes at a slight angle and at moderate speed she moved across the water very nicley and at high speed the planes pulled her under fairly nice called dynamic diving I believe. I may have one up and going by Aug maybe/hopefully

That would be a lot of stuff to cram into a small hull. What is the typical scale you're working with, at least 1/350th?
Later Edit: I guess I should have asked, are you working in scales greater than 1/350th. In that scale a U-Boat would be sort of small..maybe too small.
I'll be watching for your one in August.

I did the OLD airfix E-Boat and with it's narrow hull it was fun but man o man that thing moved out when you hit the throttle. Got the same scale speed as a real E-Boat. 1/72 ships work best but with the advent of the Micro Racers how small is a matter of room available in the model. With luck I should be getting a Swift boat shortly and want to R/C it real bad. I did the USS defiance kit and with it's water cutting hull it moved out rather nicely.
