Just got notifiication from Trident and UPS that my Lexington backdate kit shipped. I know the group build doesn't start until Decmber, but I have been putting "the package" together all these months. Now all I need is some Vindicators and Buffaloes. Man all the research and the trying to find this and that has made this a project even more time consuming than the Nimitz. Of course research on that was down and dirty and all the parts I needed to build it "my way" were readily avilable.

Ahoy Steve!!

That's great and it's nice to see that you still are "storing for winter"!!
We are "almost" there

About the Vindicators and Buffaloes in that scale...
I'll try to make some searches and let you know something

Thanks Rui:

I knew about them...Chuck (desertmole) had gotten ahold of some samples and sent me some pics. They haven't been released yet, but I'm patient...I figure to have them by the start of the campaign, if not, well I can modify some Dauntlas and Wildcats and I already have Devastators. I keep monitoring the modelship web and figure when they get released I'll read about it tere first. Chris Decker at Trident will also probably announce when he gets them.

Man, that's just not FAIR! With those kits available I'm going to HAVE to wind up doing a pre-war Lexington eventually.

I still don't see how I'm going to do it for "Flattops" , but eventually, I just know it's going to happen.

Steve, I'm looking forward to your kit as the inspiration!!

Tom:

Did you see my pics of the Nimitz.....that should inspire you. Man these Trumpeter 350 scale carriers are absolutely marvelous. So far I've built Essex and Nimitz. I have Hornet and Lady Lex waiting in the wings.

I was wondering if you knew the old Nazareth song "Heart's Grown Cold" As an old bass player/guitarist I would love to have the chords

Try this out.

http://www.911tabs.com/link/?1611065

Man, I must have checked about 30 tab sites before I found this one. I'm not familiar with the song and for some reason my "membership level" doesn't let me do a copy and paste, although it's a free membership.

(Don't tell anybody, but Cntrl P let me do a screen print. Shhhhhh!!!!!!)

So I have no idea whether this particular tab is any good or not.

I generally prefer to use http://www.powertabs.net/ because once you download the free software not only can you actually hear the music, (and decide whether the tabber did a good job or not), you can use the software to either edit the existing file OR create your own tabs of other stuff with it. Great stuff!

Hope this is a good tab.

Thanks Tom:

That did the trick just something real simple and it was 3 basic chords like I figured. It's a beautiful song with what I would say has "hidden" meaning (I think drugs) but I love Mellissa Etheridges' love songs knowing she is hard core gay...her writing is so well done it can apply to straights as well. I ama big fan of Nazareth. I think they have the best version of Morning Dew ever,,,,problem is is finding the right version. On their greatest hits they have a bonga bonga sound in it....the one they did in early 79's starts out with a heavy bass lead. My ex wife was able to track it down for me in KAZA and put it on a CD (along with some other classic stuff)
