This hardly falls under "reference", but maybe in a way it does. I picked this up yesterday, it's a 2004 re-printing of a work written by Captain Donald Macintyre in 1958. However, what I've read so far, I have found it to be an honest and un-fluffed account of escort duty on a Royal Navy destroyer in the North Atlantic's western approaches. Not much in the way of reference photos, but it will help get you primed for Dreadnoughts and DDD2.....

If I'm not mistaken Capt. McIntyre was one of the top RN sub killers in HMS Walker. He is the author of quite a few naval history books. Two I remember are Jutland, and The Thunder of the Guns. You've got a great book there.
