As you can see, this is the old Revell kit that I've dry fitted together, just to see how she'll sort of look. And you know, I really like it!

For most part I haven't found too much wrong with it. Yeah, its got some fit problems and will require some shimming, but all and all..it's nice kit. I removed the railings along the main deck and the upper sections of the super structure. However, you'll notice that the railings on the deck just below the gun director's positions and those along the gun tubs are still in place. This poses a problem. I'm not sure how I should go about removing these. I thought about using a scribing tool and cutting through that way. Any suggestions?

95 Bravo I have to agree with ZzZguy . Remove the molded on rails by shaving them off with an x-acto.

ZzZ-I built the Mini Hobby/ Banner kit but I don't remember the rings because I sanded my decks. I believe they're anchor points for rigging blocks.

I also painted my wood decks wood and steel decks Gunship gray as the hull . The Arizona was wearing Measure 1 at the time she was lost as were all(?) the other BB's at pearl.

My Arizona is my favorite ship and it sits in a place of honor in my living room (wife gave in on this one) on top of my computer desk.....Mike T

Jonathan, the kit you have is 1/350, the one Steve is working on is more like 1/570 (I think). His is the old Revell kit. It's easy to confuse the two because their is a lot of speculation that Banner, Trumpeter, MiniHobbies, or whoever actually made the 1/350 kit just upscaled the Revell kit to the larger scale. Steve's kit probably first came out in the sixties! It was certainly one of the first models I can remember making way back then.

I have the 1/350 kit in the Banner issue. I have no idea about those circle things you're asking about. Mine is so covered with dust from being on the display shelf too long I couldn't see any details like that.

Mike, that is one nice model you've made there.

Thank you Mike and Jonathan, yes that worked well. I guess I should try to take the more simplisitc approach rather than over-engineering everything.

Mike, would you be kind enough to post a photo of you Arizona that shows the area just ahead of the stack? I'm pretty certain I need to remove those rails but I'm not cetain as to how much.

I really need to learn some terminology here...It's the deck on top of what I think is called the forcastle....I think...*cringe* Or whatever....dang!

Oh...and Jonathan, yes it's the old Revell kit..not sure which relase..but old..and it's 1/429th scale...or something along that line.

95Bravo that lower photo's the best one I have. Looking at ther photo of the revell kit you have up there it looks like if you remove the molded on railings and leave the rest that depicts the splinter shielding you'll be fine. Check the Fine Arts Arizona that's what I did......Mike T
