Saw a piece on last nights Mail Call on Navy hydrofoils. They showed one that caught my eye because there was a kit of it. The Tucumcari (town in New Mexico). Anybody know where I can find one...I would assume they have been out of production for ages. John at WEM pointed me towards the USS Pegasus which is a fine looking 350 scale Hydofoil kit. It was consideerable bigger and Gordon would love it as they used these ships in the Brown water Navy. Pricey though at around $60, Dragon has one in 700 scale that comes with the Tarawa kit (or vice versa)but that is probably too small

Hi Steve!

The Aurora's Tucumcari appeats every now and then on ebay, and reach prohibitive prices...
It's a nice model though - but wouldn't pay around US$150 for one...

Reissue, anyone? Molds lost?

Commander models makes a Tucumcari and Flagstaff in 1/350 scale. Kit numbers are 4-180 for Tucumcari, and 4-181 for Flagstaff. Here's the website to order from:

http://www.commanderseries.com/ships_350.html

Cost for either one is $19.95

Oh THANK YOU< THANK YOU>THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was getting ready to send an order in to them to get the 350 scale btwn the wars aircraft I needed for my Lexington, now I'll add this one to the list. Of course with this kit in hand it will certainly make me vulnerable to get the PHM (Pegasus) from WEM unless I can find someone else who makes one in 350 scale cheaper.

I'm glad you popped in on his thread Mike. Saw the dio you posted here on your website. What kit is the Greenbay, does it come full hull? Do you know anyone who makes a cheaper Pegasus (PHM) class kit (in 350) other than WEM? Oh, and your dioramas are to die for. If I win the mega-lottery, I'll become your biggest customer :-)

I got an Aurora Tucumcari off of eBay a few years back, I doubt I paid over $20 for it (complete, unbuilt in box). Neat little kit.

Here are some links to the vessel: http://www.foils.org/models.htm

Rob:

You wouldn't be interested in parting with it would you? I've put myself on Ebay alert if one shows up, and I'm planning on getting one of those 3 inchers from ISW on Monday. But I'ld like the larger version and of course it may take a real long time before it shows up on ebay again

I hadn't thought about parting with it. It is one of the old Aurora kits I built as a kid and wanted another for some sort of nostalgia purpose.

The Asheville class-Greenbay is also ISW and is molded full hull.
