Some spectacular news for builders of Trumpeter''s 1/350th scale USS North Carolina, with the news by Armorman of a new AM set from LionRoar to take the original kit to a VERY different level. The new set includes replacements for both the 16 and 5 inch gun barrels (in alloy), anchor chain and many other ehancements. The full story, including images, can be seen

Thank you for posting this in the news, Jim!

It's a pretty impressive upgrade set that will make the USS North Carolina a Museum quality model.
Many thanks to Armorman for bringing us this news!

Skipper

PS: Jim, the Lionroar logo is not showing

That is impressive! I've never worked with photo etch before and I'm sure if I did there would be big chunks of my skin super glued to machine guns all over the place. :-) :-)

I have one on order, hoping it is shipped mid-month.

FYI, AAA Models charges your card on order, not on shipment.
Also FYI, Great Models is offering it on pre-order for around $55.

I'll post something in the Dreadnought thread when it comes in.

Great models is getting it, where do they have it? I'ld like to get a $55 price on that set. Couldn't find it on their web site

never mind, I found it and got my pre-order in. Of course now I'm gooing to have to buy the ship now as my sister hasn't quizzed me yet on Christmas. There is some new company on ebay selling them fairly cheap right now

Steve --

Aftermarket sets & all that are wonderful, but the upper & lower hull still don't fit right & that screws up the decks & the deck is in 3 parts anyway, just so you remember that ....

Still, given where I now live, I can do nothing but continue to hack away at this worthy project ...maybe there will be enough A/M to cover the seams ...

We wouldn't be good modelers if we didn't learn how to overcome these problems. I have read with great interest your trails and tribulations with this kit. I look forward to seeing how you overcome these obstacles as this will undoubtably guide me to a successful completion as well.
