Hi guys,
I'm building an American LCVP to use in a Pacific theatre dio and can't find any references on what if any camo schemes were used around 1943. Does anyone have any info? I don't need any specific schemes, just some idea on whether they were left grey as were the ones used on D-Day or if they were painted green or some other colour as were the PT boats in that theatre of operations.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Martin,
LCVPs were painted in the same camouflage measure as the ship carrying them. Thus, LCVPs could be in overall 5-N Navy Blue if their mother ship was in Measure 21, in overall 5-O Ocean Gray if their mother ship was in Measure 14, or overall 5-H Haze Gray if their mother ship was in Measure 13 or 22. In these cases the decks would be Deck Blue 20-B.
Or, if they were carried by a camouflaged LST, they could be in a splotch pattern of greens, brown, and black, with decks in 20-G Deck Green.
We've got all the appropriate colors accurately matched and available in our Colourcoats enamels. Feel free to contact me off-list.
Cheers,

Did Squadron ever release an LCVP in Action book? One of these days I plan on doing an LCVP and an LCM and it would be nice if I knew in advance a color scheme I wanted so I could match up the paints I wanted.

They sure did. Landing Craft in action. Great book that covers all amphibs in WW2.

Thanks for the info John, I think I'll go with a green "splotch" patern.
Unfortunately I am no longer allowed to airbrush enamel paint (Mrs Brandydog objects to the smell of thinners) but I have used Colourcoats in the past and cannot reccommend them highly enough to anyone thinking of using them.
