As promised..... I was able to get some paint on the beast this week end. RLM66 was used on the interior and top portions of the tower. I used a light gray for the remainder. It is going to be in the winter scheme, and I figured this was a close match. The weathering at this point is a little overdine and I plan on toning it back some. The hard part was the wood slats inside the tower, but I'm happy with the way they came out. The periscopes and other "masts" are just set loosely in their places for the time being. Enjoy the pics. Very nice work "Q"...I have the Revell 1/72 U-Boat sitting on a shelf in my basement so I will be follwoing your progress on this sub with interest. Not as big, but I am sure I can still learn plenty from your work.

Looking great! ... but still a lot of work to do before you finish it. Wanna see how others built this kit?
Here's what "Art Instructor" - my armor modeler ended up with :

(This kit was bought second-handed, partially built,
for $36.50. There's no figures because the body and leg parts were missing.)
