I’m looking info on kits of the USS Roosevelt aircraft carrier.

See I have a relative who was recently assigned to that ship and another of my relatives would like me to build a model of it for them.

I’ve been looking around and have only found 2 kits for it. One by Italeri and one by Testors. Both are 1/720.

I was wondering if you guys could give me any info on these kits or know of any other kits of the ship.

Thanks.

Check and see if one has come out by Trumpeter or Dragon. It will be much newer and from what I've heard of the 700 scale Nimitz excelent. Of course you could get real gutsy and get the Trumpeter 350 scale Nimtz, the Tom's PE set with which you can update and a few boxes of Hornets and Tomcats to get the correct aircraft. Probably have to find some aftermarket source to get tail / squadron markings. Probably set you back around $250 or so for whole shooting match though. It took me 4 months to build my Nimitz

Look for Trumpeter's 1/500 scale Nimitz class. 1/500 Trumpeter USS Nimitz CVN-68, USS Eisenhower CVN-69, USS Carl Vinson CV-70, USS Washington CV-73, USS Stennis CVN-74. There you go.

I prefer the Italeri/Testors 1/720 scale kits to the Trumpeter 1/500 kits, personally.

Otherwise, Trumpeter is rumored to be coming out with a NEW 1/700 Nimitz class soon, that would be a really nice kit.

And the comments for the 1/350 kit are spot on...just remember that each ship has its own little add-ons, so the Roosevelt will have details added and removed that are not on the Nimitz. Break into those resources... :-)

Thanks guys.

I’m not the one that will be paying for it so I don’t think I’ll be able to go too expensive.

I’ll look into the Trumpeter kit. If it’s not going to be too long I may see about waiting for it to come out.
