This is along the lines of a former post I put in here on the lack of subjects in this scale and it mainly covers modern vessels.
So we'll start with aircraft carriers.
USS Midway class
USS Forrestal class
USS Kitty Hawk class
USS Nimitz class
USS Iwo Jima class
USS Tarawa class
USS Wasp class
USS Essex class
Clemenceau class (France)
Charles de Gaulle class (France)
Jeanne D'Arc class (France)
Garibaldi class (Italy)
Kiev class (Russia)
Kuznetsov class (Russia)
Moskva class (Russia)
Principe de Asturias class (Spain)
Invincible class (UK)

Now for some cruisers
Kara class (Russia)
Kirov class (Russia)
Slava class (Russia)
USS Virginia class
USS South Carolina class

Here are some destroyers
Iroquois class (Canada)
Luda class (China)
Luhu class (China)
Cassard class (France)
Suffern class (France)
Audace class (Italy)
De La Penne class (Italy)
Asagiri class (Japan)
Kongo class (Japan)
Murasame class (Japan)
Sovremenny class (Russia)
Udaloy class (Russia)
Type 42 I,II,III class (UK)

Trumpeter will be releasing a 1/350 Nimitz and Kuznetsov. Nimitz at $250 (ouch!). Kuznetsov most probably the same. (ouch ouch!)
Re: Kirov, Trump will be releasing one but in 1/700. But knowing Trump, it will probably make a 1/350 of it. (BTW, the Trump Kirovs - yup, Kirovs - will be in their I think current configuration and names)

I have built most of tamyia's 1/350 kits they were fun and interesting because there is some brass company out there that has extras for the ships.

Bill DeCicco (:-)

Bill, that company would most probably be Gold Medal Models (GMM). They are better known as a maker of PE parts for model ships.

Any ship or part of ship in 1/35 would interest most of us mud-crawlers.
For smaller scales like 1/350, I'd like to see some of the ships that got famous (if not hit) in the Falklands war : HMS Ardent, HMS Antelope, HMS Sir Gallahad,...
Then there's plenty of German beauties besides Tirpitz and Bismark : like Gneisenau, Sharnhorst, Graf Spee,...

Here are some that I think would look good in 1/35: (For you Generalfailure )
USS Cyclone class Patrol Boat
Turya class Patrol Boat (Russia)
Storm class Patrol Boat (Norway)
Chaho class Patrol Boat (N.Korea)
Reshef class Patrol Boat (Isreal)
Albatross class Patrol Boat (Germany)
USS Pegasus class Hydrofoil Patrol Boat

Yeah, these are the bigger boats, but it is a group that has been completely ignored.

Trumpeter has released 2 A/C's the Hornet and the Essex both at $120 retail. I read they are also going to release a Saratoge and a Nimitz this year. Is the Nimitz erally going to be that high or will they step it down to keep in line with their normal pricing?

I have seen on some sites where you can pre-order thos type ships at a discount cost. Can't say if the sara or Nimitz is going to be the same way, but they did it for the Essex and Hornet so you may have a good chance there. Oh the pre order price I saw for the former carriers was $89.00. Hope this Helps.

I did a pre=order on an Essex and with two aircraft sets postage and handling it came to $104.00 A great price. Hope they do the same for the Saratoga whcich I would expect to be the same range. I just wonder what they'll want for that Nimitz. That puppy is a monster though not as big as the CVN Enterprize. Tamiya has that out and you can usually get that for close to $100 at a discount house. Has anyone heard about 350 scale BB's coming out. Someone thought they were going to produce an NC and Bama class later this year. How about a cage mast Cal or Tenn? Now we're talking reasonable here not those $300-$500 resins

I'd really like to see a GOOD 1/350 model of HMS Hood. I've built one of the older 1/400 versions and it was really little more than a toy. I understand there is a good resin model out there but out of my price range.

This is surprising to me since the Hood is one of the most famous ships that ever sailed.
