Well my daughter went to the North Carolina yesterday with a friend. So I armed her with a Digi Cam so she could get some photos for dear old Dad. Ashame I had to work.

This is what she came up with. Not much to say of but hey she's 15 and did her level best. Can't ask for more than that can you??

Not much I know but it is more than I had to start with. Hope these can help someone out. She is now bugging me ot go back soon so there may be more pictures on the horizon..

The photos are in my gallery if you need to get a closer look at them

Thanks for posting. One dream I have is to travel to all the battleship museums and see them up close. I've been on board the Missouri, while she was in mothballs in Bremerton, and the New Jersey while she was being made ready for Nam. I really want to see the Show Boat and the Texas, along with all the others.

The composition of the top picture is amazing. Looks like something from a professional. She did a great job.

Roger Seeing that I only like to build 1/350 scale Ships I had to make a pact with SWMBO that I would only and build ones that I have actually stepped foot on. That being said. I have a New Jersey, Missouri, North Carolina, and if rumors are true a Massachusetts. The only other one that isn't in the deal was a USS Salem, but I was born there so that is a loop hole.

If you ever get out this way to see the Showboat let me know I can at least save you some $$$ on the hotel bill and food there is plenty of room at the Casa here for you and yours.

Chuck your right she has a great eye with a camera. The only thing I forgot is she isn't a modeller(yet) so she didn't know what I meant by "Research Photos". I guess that was my bust.

Tell your daughter that her "Uncle Steve" was thrilled with the pictures. I would be interested in seeing one that shows the entire side view of the ship to see if there are patterns on the hull.

Steve:

Funny you should mention the entire side of the ship. She told me that was the one picture she tried to get but couldn't figure out the angle to fit it in the frame of the camera.

I also aske her about the other side as well. She said there is nothing but water over there and would have had to swim to get that one. 58 degrees isn't too cold for that right?

Anyway now she wants me to go there with her to explain alot of the stuff she didn't understand... I smell a "field trip" coming..

If there is anything specific anyone wants just give a shout and I'll see what I can do. Maybe I can get the span of the pattern.. No promises there though.

Because right now I am trying to piece togather the 3 I got to see if I can come up with it.

I also noticed that one of the pictures in the camera is one of her and her friend sitting by the blast bag in the main gun.. Do you need that one also. Because in my kit there is no blast bags. I guess I'll have to scratch build them.

As to taking pictures of the entire side of the ship you might want to see if you have a panarama feature on your camera. I recently tried mine out at a local air museum and loved it. The way my camera works is you tell it to shoot panorama. You take one shot, and then move the camera to the right to take the next shot. There is a little outline on the screen of the right side of the last shot, so you can line the shots up. You can take up to 7 shots this way. When it comes time to put them all together it came with software to do this.

Here is a sample.

I think this was done with three pictures, but I also did one with five photos.

This would work great on such a wide subject as a battleship's full side.
