Hi Jim
I will scan some pictures of some 1980's surveillance cruise tomorrow - I hope that this will help you
Thank you for sharing this great news for Soviet Modern Warships (do I note a trend here???)

And are these declassified? :-)
I can't wait to see them!
Hmmmm. wonder what other Soviet era ships I'd like to see both in photos and kit form?

I've got to say those Russian, or Soviet, warships certainly looked like they meant business. Looks like all the weapons were facing forward for a very aggressive ship.
EDIT Thanks Jim for keeping us up on floaty things as well.

Hi All
The scans will be online tomorrow
As for the "declassified" issue - I took the pictures while on surveillance, they never allowed us closer than 1000 yards and evrytime we get closer than that, they just speed up a little.
We "received" them from a British/French surveillance team in Biscay Bay and "deliver" them to HMS York right on Gibraltar - I miss those days
As Rodger mentioned the look on a Soviet/Russian ship is always "mean". I always liked these surveillance tasks, because we had the chance to see impressive "enemy" ships close (remember we were in the 80's and we had NATO/ Warsaw Pact)

If you check out Google Earth, you can find 2 of the class in the harbour of St. Petersburg :-)
Its a very nice looking ship - have been thinking about the 1:200 Trumpeter edition
