Does anyone know of a resin sail for the Revell Lionfish that I can use to do the Balao/Sea Tiger. I watched Operation Petticoat again and I noticed the rear of the sail did not have the round platform. Tried Nautilus but they didn't have, I think.
Please.....HELP!

Hello Subhunter,
Since the USS SeaTiger was a fictional sub from the movie
I don't think any of the aftermarket guys make the correct
sail conversion.
Look for some good reference photos and give scratchbuilding
a try. You'll see it is not so hard, you need just a little extra
patience but in the end it is very rewarding.
Have a nice day ,

Nautilus was the first thing that came to my mind.
So, will your version be the shipyard gray, or the patrol pink?

 That's a great subject...wish I'd thought of it!

Joe, the USS Balao was used for the movie, that's why I was asking. I have come to the conclusion that I'll hve to modify the kit's sail.
Hey Steve, what do you think? Pink, of course!

Thanks guys.

Hello Subhunter,
I hear you. I have an article on converting the original Revell
tower into three different configurations. I will e-mail them to
you as reference. Hope that it may help.
And yes PINK is a must ! That will be a unique boat and the
results should be awesome!
Have a nice day,
Joe

PS I referred to a photo of the USS Balao and it seems that its tower was of the early Balao type.
This tower was slightly shorter and the railings were not quite circular but hexagonal.
Use the profile that says "Early Balao version" and it should work just fine.
I emailed them to you; could not post images on PM.

Thanks Joe. Got your email today. Dosen't look to hard of a conversion. Question for you. In the movie, they paint the sub in the water, of course. What would be the hull color below the water line?

I plan on doing a real nice base and creating a ship's logo as if the Sea Tiger was real. I think it would be cool to have this nice display base and a PINK submarine on it. :-) hehehehehe

Hello Kenny,
The USS Balao was painted in Measures 32/3SS-B according
to my sources thus making the lower hull black. This black
also came up the sides aft of the conning tower to meet up
with the deck........ Since you are modelling the SeaTiger which
was painted while in the water, then go for Pink above
waterline and Black below.
I also re-emailed a photo of the actual USS Balao tower
to use for construction detail reference.
Talk to you soon,

Kenny,
How is the Sea-Tiger coming? Could you forward the article on the Lionfish sail conversion to me? I'd like to use the Lionfish to build a Gato-class boat.
Thanks, Barry
