Hello Dave,

There is a 2 page article with 6 photos of this U-boat in Issue 55 (December 2003) of the SubCommittee Report (see the following address to order back issues: http://www.subcommittee.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?s=16025e9b3d8028875efa3c01be54cf1c;act=ST;f=4;t=4334

It was the U 573, renamed as the G-7. The G-7 served in the post-war Spanish navy. She was renamed S-01 yeras later before being taken out of service in 1970 and sold for scrap.

Wolfgang Peterson, director of Das Boot, came to Spain in 1980 trying to find this U-boat but it had been scrapped ten yeras before.

Cheers,

Dougie

How sad, I am only aware of the U-boat at the museum in Chicago. Are there any more in the world?

U534 will be on the move soon as the museum that has her/him is closing down.
