I was wondering if any one had built this kit and what it was like.

I’m thinking of getting it but I’m wondering if its worth $35. I haven’t been able to find much about it online and was hoping one of you guys could help me out.

I built it 30 years ago. It cost me $4. It was first generation 700 scale, nothing exceptional. Unless they have updated it and added PE or super detailed to today's standard, I couldn't see paying more than 12 to 15 dollars

As far as I have been told this new Zuikaku has a "full" interior and is far more detailed than the previous release

For the same money, try the Pit Road IJN Urnyu, full top hangar deck and enough of the lower hangar deck showing to make this interesting,.... great late war carrier with funky camo scheme!

Frank

P.S. when I learn how to post up photos on this new server, I'll show you my almost completed Urnyu.

That's about what it looked like 30 years ago.

Thanks for the advise Frank but I’m trying to find a kit for the Leyte Gulf Campaign so the Urnyu won’t work.
May pick it up later as it sounds like an interesting build.

I may look into there special edition 1/700 Yamato kit.

I've got a Tamiya Musashi kit I picked up real cheap on ebay a month or so ago. I wanted an initial configuration. Pretty nice looking 700 waterline with no PE. I think the special edition has full hull and some PE. Check and make sure. Fujimi also makes several versions of her as well.

Thanks David. that link just went into my favorites.

Steve I don’t know about the PE but you right that the special edition Yamato does come with a complete hull.

Also no that I’ve looked around I’ve discovered a Zuikaku made by Nichimo in 1/500.
Strange thing is depending on where I look it runs from about $20 up to $80.

Just don’t know where I’ld find room to put it.
