Hello Jim
The new ship section looks great, a little lost but I'm sure I'll find my way around. I now understand the new changes and don't think there will be any problems once members see how it works. Question, can't seem to login. Am I missing something.

Don't feel bad Joe, I can't either..... :-)
For some reason, it shows no members logged in/on line, but at Armorama I'm logged in and show up at the bottom of the page, along with Skipper.
Guess just another little bug that needs to be worked out.

Hi All

There are still a few things that needed to be sharpen a little - but I am sure they will be all fixed during this week - the most!

Thanks for your input

This is actually a glitch in the site-2-site code that I can probably fix. Obviously you are still logged in, but the system is counting you logged into Armorama, not Model Shipwrights. It's a cookie thang.

OK, now I understand the glitch I think I am experiencing. In other news, Rowan/Merlin sent me the old Airfix 1/76 scale LCM Mk(3) with M4 Sherman kit to review for the site. Since this is basically a boat carrying cargo (a tank), I think I will submit the review here.

In the words of Danny Glover from "Lethal Weapon" "I'm getting too old for this... well stuff." I didn't realize the switch had been made. I was checking at the Big A for the first time since Saturday and I was really surprised there was no activity from the Warships forum in the latest posts section. That seemed odd. Then I saw Jim's post about "this weekend."

I'm sure I'll get used to it, but I also have to say I wish it hadn't happened to the warships forum. Why'd you have to pick on us floaty guys Jim? Couldn't you have started with those wingy thingy folks first?

I'm sure this has been brought up, and I'm sorry in advance to bring this up again, but will we be able to see latests posts, and to be able to get to this site directly from Armorama at some point?

I'm sure this will be all to the good, and we'll all be floating right along as we used to, I just have to get used to it.

A couple of questions....

Will we be limited to the Armorama structure of Campaigns, or can start our own list? If we have the autonomy, why not increase the number of naval campaigns?

When we download photos, will we have to load them at Armorama, or here at Model Shipwrights?
Will they be stored in a collective, for all the sections to access?

My Edit: Just noticed that this is my first post !?!?!

I'm having the same log-in problems, but am looking forward to watching our very own section of Armorama go from strength to strength!

Like some of you I too was quite surprised to see no Senior Service activity on the main site, until I navigated the treacherous waters of the web to here that is...

Better go and wash up now before I come out with any more rubbish! :-)

I have never actually made the Campaign section fully work with the site-realms functionality. But we can definately do that if that's the consenus. Or I can make the Campaigns area more a function of the parent site. (but that may be hard actually now that I think on it)

Gallery will remain at photos.kitmaker.net, but the structure and organization can be updated to suit the new site.

Wow, what a change. It has been said that people don't change until the pain of staying the same exceeds the pain of the change. I am eager for the pot holes to be filled and the bugs to be cleaned out. Hmm, none of those descriptions have anything to do with floaty things. OK, how about I'm eagerly awaiting a good stiff breeze to fill my sails and clear away the fog.

edit: Wow, I got busted back to recruit. Oh well, maybe some kind hearted board of inquiry will have mercy us.

All the best for this new site.

Hi Frank

I think we can create our own Campaign list
As you know we are currently running three campaigns (Dreadnoughts, Flattops and DDD2) and another one to start in October (Leyte)!
The guys are sweating to finish the entries and I don't know if we can take more Campaigns running at the same time... I also know that we (ship guys) are very willing and with good spirit - so we enlist in every Warship Campaign
It's a question of seing if we can manage to spread the campaigns and also manage to take only the ones we really care for... (I am guilty here!!!!)

As for your question about the images - when you post pictures in Armorama, you were already uploading the photos in another place (www.kitmaker.net), so the procedure is exactly the same!

What I probably have to do is to create public folders divided by groups/topics.

I will do these once it is established the final format with Jim

Olá José

We already have some very good MOD features on LCM(III) and LCVP (two MOD's). On the LST we only got a couple of Book reviews by Osprey

Obrigado pela ajuda - neste momento o mais importante é afinar os "pequenos detalhes!"

Um abraço

As the Campaign Manager - may I be allowed to chime in on the question of having those activities on satellite sites?

Personally - I think this is a great chance to rethink/redo the original idea. Model Shipwrights should "assimilate" the present campaigns from the Big A and flesh out additional ones as the members come up with through consensus.

Perhaps, when the central Hub is setup and ready to go, a member can enter the portal through ModelGeek and select the site (Model Shipwrights) and or Campaigns/Group Builds going on anywhere in the Kitmaker arena.

However, for Campaign Administration, perhaps it would be better to have that happen on each of the satellite sites, independent of the others.

Based on the division of the sites by "section" I think this will probably have to be the case. But Jim is right that we can still have a central Campaigns gathering point for them all.

Campign Central is a good "meeting" point for all interested in these kind of activities - and I agree with Jim & Jim on the Campaign leader for each website

I definitely vote for a centralized campaign. Like most here I drift in my modeling preferences. This year alone I have participated in Dreadnaughts, Flattops, Viet Nam, Blood-n-Guts, and I'm running the Meow. I' also plan to do Dive Dive Dive 2 and Leyte Gulf.. Hey Jim, how many campaign ribbons can we have in our profile? :-) :-)

I've got 7 now.

I also feel that perhaps each individual "satellite site" should have their own campaign administration, with a centralized hub as a campaign HQ, so to speak...as the entire site begins to make the transition that follows, it would almost have to happen this way, because of the overall growth of the site...maybe we should open this up as a seperate topic so that others can comment also...(we're kinda guilty of drifting off topic here guys, myself included )
