I'd like to see a consistent and dependable longer time frame for future campaigns. In my opinion, I believe that ship models take the most time to complete, and that the individuals partaking in these campaigns would benefit greatly from this increase. It would also remove the constant stress of not finishing a campaign in time, and would hopefully bring aboard more members that have non-modelling time limitations. The talk in the past has been on not running too many campaigns at the same time, but given, say a year to complete a model should allow us to build multiple kits within the same time frame.

This sounds like a great idea to me. Of course no matter how long the campaign, I always seem to finish in the last week. Like the bumper sticker says "If it weren't for the last minute nothing would get done."

Hi Frank!
Like our most illustrious Campaign Manager has said, our focus, our rules, and now that we are at our new home, we can establish a ground set of rules, decided upon by us, and with the good Gunnie's approval, can become our "system of standards" for future campaigns... we have so much going for us here at Model Shipwights now, and it is only limited by our imagination and creativity...and how lucky we are to have someone like Jim Starkweather and Rui Matos to listen to what we want to see and make it happen. I for one would like to thank you both for what you are doing for the site as a whole, as well as for Model Shipwrights.

I have to totally agree with Frank Portella here...
These "little models" take much longer than any kind of models (imho) and a modeler that never built one, can't experience the real fun that is making a real masterpiece, no matter the medium, scale or theme.

I think that with DDD2, the sixth Warship Campaign in Armorama (now MSW), we have reached an optimal time span for a campaign - preciselly one year! Although this was set on a completely different base - honouring Garry Beebe starting and ending a submarine Campaign on the day of his departure.

As some of other members here, my modeling time is not as much as I would like to...
but I have been successfully been abble to finish my entries and maintaining a good level of work done - and I guess that this should be the most important thing in a Campaign: Accomplish the built of one model related with the theme of the Campaign, with good quality!
We are here as a community and the main basis for it is to learn, teach, share experiences, knowledge, sources and resources and also, of course, to have fun. I know that accomplish all this is a little difficult , but not impossible!!!

If everyone gives his/her best, I am sure we will get there!

The keel is laid, let's start building this Ship

Couldn't agree with you more, Skip...depending upon the scale, subject, degree of a/m accessories, PE additions, and just modeling time alone all take a factor in ship building more so than in any other subject medium, IMHO...I can really sink my teeth into a good ship build and spend a year (or more!) on making her "ship shape"

Some folks build at different rates and different levels of accuracy (just look at what Tom is doing to his Missouri, and compare that to my Bismarck). But I have to agree, I can normally knock out a model ship in 2-3 months (my Lexington) but I can do a great tank in around 2 weeks. I enter a campaign only if I think I'll have enough time to finish it. I waited until I had finished my Lex before i entered the Patton tank one. I'll enter the DDD2 after I finish my entry in the MEOW... which by the way is MY campaign starting in JUne in case any of you have missed signing up !!! But the campaign leader sets up the rules. Just make sre you look at overall averages of build time. My MEOW is for 6 months even though I'll probably have my entry done by July if I start in June.
