Hi, guys! I already posted this query in another thread, but just in case that's not spotted I'm posting it separately.
I just today bought the Revell 1/540 HMS King George V, so I'm very interested in this thread. I don't have much knowledge about ships, and in fact this is my second (see my BUBAR post and you'll know what happened to the first ). My problem is that the paint instructions aren't very detailed or clear. For instance, the smaller details are very sketchy, like how to paint the Walrus seaplane, lifeboats, etc. Can anyone direct me to a site where I can research the paint scheme for the KVG? I plan to model her during the Bismarck chase. I haven't any books on battleships or anything like that.

Hi David,
During the Bismarck chase, KGV was painted as follows:
AP 507B Admiralty Medium Grey - all vertical surfaces;
AP 507A Admiralty Dark Grey - all decks (including the wood decks)
Ship's boats would also have been painted AP 507B.
If you're building a full-hull model, the boot-topping is matt black, and the underwater hull is Royal Navy Antifouling Red.
The Walrus would have been in Temperate Sea Scheme camouflage, using Dark Slate Grey and Extra Dark Sea Grey on the upper surfaces, and Sky Type 'S' on the under surfaces.
We have all those colors accurately matched and available in our Colourcoats enamels:
RN 01 AP 507A Admiralty Dark Grey;
RN 02 AP 507B Admiralty Medium Grey;
C 02 Matt Black;
RN 19 Royal Navy Antifouling Red;
ACRN 01 Sky Type 'S';
ACRN 02 Extra Dark Sea Grey;
ACRN 06 Dark Slate Grey.
No minimum order on paints, and we ship worldwide.

Thanks a LOT, John, very informative stuff. I appreciate it.
Don't laugh, but what's the boot-topping? I'm not too fluent with these sea-going terms
Mark, thanks for the links. I'm gonna check 'em out now.

John, would the main gun turret tops and sides follow this scheme?

Hi David,
Based on photos, yes: turret sides in AP 507B and tops in AP 507A.
