Ok guys i am about to take on my first plastic ship model and i will need the help of you experts, i just bought the USS Olympia by Revell i think its 1/232 scale anyway any reference material would be helpful although i am not into PE i may consider using some on this kit as a lot of the details are a little out of scale but it looks like a decent kit, i should have asked questions before i bought the kit but i will give it a try anyway.

Hi RV

Well... let's see what I can do to help you...

The USS Olympia NAtional Landmark:
http://www.spanamwar.com/olympia.htm

Model Construction (although in German language, th eimages are good enough to explain a little more)
http://www.modellmarine.de/phpwebsite/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=335&MMN_position=9:9

And I think you should try and find, and also, try to enhance the model with this PE Set
Gold Medal Models GMM 240-4 - Olympia/Oregon Set

Hope this helps

:-) :-) :-) I guess being sort of a pyro as a kid helped me with that technique! Although, more and more these days, I find that I have a huge mess when I strech spru and lots of little floaty things in the room...

After reading the brief history on that web page I posted, I wonder if there is anyone in Philadelphia who could take photos of her in her extant state?
