Ahoy, Mates!

With the official closing of Garry Beebe's Flattops! Campaign ending on June 30th, it should also be fitting that the original thread be closed for this campaign, and a fresh, new one created for the special "extension rider" that we have placed on this campaign, that will let all of the entrants who did not get their carriers finished in time to do so, due to a late start or a complex build.

So PLEASE, all of the entrants who are still participating in the campaign, post your new progress reports in this thread, so we all can keep our thoughts and discussions together on this next phase of the campaign...it will be sooooo much easier on you and I if we can do this!

So with this said, Keep Modeling, and please keep me posted on your progress here!!

Cheers!
~Gunny

PS...here's an easy link to the campaign gallery for "Progress" and "Finished" pics!

My 1/600 Ark Royal is coming along slowly, but (as usual) I was a bit optimistic thinking I would have her finished for the end of this month... Not helped by the fact that I'm STILL waiting for my resin pom-poms from WEM. They don't keep these items in stock but don't say as such on their website; I've suggested to John that this should be mentioned prior to purchase, but haven't yet had a reply.

Anyway, here's a couple of snaps of the progress so far

Looking Very Nice, Rip!
I too agree that there should be some type of notification stating such, just for this type of problem...don't worry though, mate, I know your situation, and it's all good.

To be fair to WEM they don't charge until the items are sent; it's just a bit disappointing when you think you've found what you're looking for, only to realise that you are then at the mercy of a supplier (WEM's supplier I mean)

In answer to your earlier question, fit of the parts is quite good overall. Some putty is required here and there, but bear in mind this model was moulded in 1966! Same year that I was released into the world incidentally, although of course they broke the mould then LOL

I too agree with this point as well, Graham, regardless, of not being charged til they ship, but I'm head of my Dept. in inside sales here at the office, and all of our customers know whether an item is in stock or will be back-ordered upon the time that we quote the item(s). All that it would take is a line that states "non-stock item, subject to availability", to keep this type of problem at bay...imagine if you were building this as a commission for a client, and you promised the ship on a certain date, know what I mean? You're the one that's left with the crow on yer plate!!!

"Crow on my plate"?

It's true what they say isn't it - America and Britain, two countries divided by a common language!

:-)
Sorry, Rip, but here in the USA there is a saying, "You have to eat crow", which basically means it's ALL your fault (and problem)!

Hi Gunny,

Sorry for the lack of input but I've had some personal problems that saw me forced out of my home in April. I've only just got all my stuff back.

Once I've sorted my new home out I will get back to serious modelling, so I will have to pull out of the campiagn. I will complete the Graf Zepplin and post when done, although it has been damaged but not beyond repair.

Glad to be back, you don't know how I've missed being able to talk to you all and see all the work going on on the site. Although a bit confused by the new layout.

Ciao
Luciano
