Just bought the 1200 scale superior kits of a Brooklyn class, Baltimore class, NewOrleans, and Indianapolis for $5 a piece. They normally run btwn $15 and $20 each. Hoping the guy has some battlewagons. Looks like my brief interest will turn into a fleet if I'm not careful :-) :-)

Steve, they certainly won't contain anywhere near the detail you get in the metal ones, but I was looking through all my dad's stuff in his library, and found quite a bit of stuff on building 1/1250 waterline ships out of balsa. He built a lot of ships and back during the 30's and 40's when he was young that's about all you could find.

I'm going to save all that stuff (along with some even MORE detailed reference info on the aircraft and assignments of the carrier groups from the 1930's and get my mom to send them to me in Michigan.

Might be fun to build a couple of ships like they used to in the depression!

Tom

These are the same metal ones as sold by ALNAVCO> A guy aquired a bunch of them and is just dumping them on the internet. I have to monitor the section to make sure he doesn't slip any jewels in there that get snapped up before I can get to them. Only complaint is I can't seem to get him to send me a master invoice with shipping info; I'm trying to get a consolodation from him. $5 per kit is absolutly outrageous as they are small and can all fit nicely in one box. I've sent him 2 emails to this effect, but no response yet.
