Hey guys,
Here's an often overlooked historical reference...World War II magazine. This is just one of the many history magazines out there. Yesterday, I was going through my pile of magazines and came across the November 2004 issue of World War II Mag and they have an interview with a PT boat crewman who served in the Med.
I pulled it out because I'm going to do a US PT for the campaign. In the interview, the gentleman was asked what kind of weapons the boat carried, were they ever strafed by Allied aircraft and tangling with German E-boats, along with other questions. Two things stuck in my mind from the article;
1. Because of the mistaken ID by Aliied aircraft, they painted red, white and blue striped on the deck.
2. The E-boats that they tangled with were armed with 88s.
So, the next time your at your local bookstore looking for reference books, don't forget to paruse the magazine section. You never know what you will find.

Hey gator, agree 100% mate!
I subscribe to WWII for not only the Historical side of the stories, but also the excitement of the battle stories, as well...it's a great mag, and a wealth of info, every month (not to mention fantastic pictures to boot!
)

Militry History and World War 2 Magazines. I have been a subsciber since issue 4 of MH and am a charter member of WW2 (filling out a subscription card before the magazine was even published). And you bet, I have the entire Time LIfe series of WW2 and probably close to 70 other reference books on the subject, but still learn something from WW2 all the time. Military HIstory is to me the best Magazine (that's right even tops PLayboy) in that I learn a lot of ancient and Medeviel stuff.
