I'm working on a Bismarck model now, and would like to place it on a base made of a map of the place it sunk.

Does anyone know exactly where this occurred?

I believe she sank in the Denmark Strait, though I couldn't give you an actual position. This link might help...

According to the site which describes the voyage on which she was found, the wreck is located 400 miles due South West (that would be an azimuth of 225 degrees) of Brest France, in the Eastern North Atlantic Ocean. With a decent map you could plot a reasonable Lat/Long from that and place the model right on the spot.

Graham
I think the Denmark Straights is where the HOOD went down. As Tom said, she had gotten almost within range of German bombers that could have flown out of Brest / western France to protect her. There is a website totally dedicated to him (the Germans felt battleships were masculine not feminine. IT is www.kbismarck.com
