Greetings all
Here, some update photo's on progress on the Pier 51 boats.
They should be pretty much done now. I've still to add the crews and some side brackets to the LCM 3, but the list of 'things to do' is getting shorter LOL, LOL

Hi Al!
Your progress on the boats is looking GREAT my friend!
"Pier 51" is looking like it will be a compilation of many fine looking works, from your "Wee Boat" to these beauties. . .thanks for taking us on the ride with you, mate, and sharing your experiences.
This will make for a great feature (or series of! ) feature articles for MSW!
Cheers,
~Gunny

Hi Gunny and Steve,
Thanks for your feedback folks, much appreciated.
I need to make some handles for the fire buckets and maybe change the writing to some decals. Some chain for the vehicle, but I'll leave that for now and see what figures I can come up with that might work in with strapping down the loads.
I have boxes of printables to make up, K rations and red cross boxes so some more stuff to load and for sitting on top of the pier. (thanks Paul). Still need to sort the side brackets.
On with the figures and open the box for the 2nd LCM, a British one this time for contrast and to see if all the boats will fit :-) :-) :-) :-). I have converted 2 new British Sailors and 2 USN ones that are awaiting heads, so additional crew and some US Troops are needed to stock the boats.
Dave thanks for sorting the LCP (R), hope you like the build so far. Tom thanks for those tyres.
Cheers all

Alan, two beautiful boats. The attention to detail is outstanding. It feels as if I coulld climb right in and fire either one of the up. Excellent, truely excellent. May ask, what is the cargo net made of?

Hi Kenny,
Thanks for that. The scramble net/cargo net is made from part of an old camo scarf I had left over from my army days. There's a rope ladder on the other side made from the same material. I'll post a new picture.
Just cut out a square/rectangle of whatever size you want. Spread it between 4 nails and coat it with PVA (White glue). Then paint it. You can then dampen it again and fit it to any shape you want.
There's one hanging on the side of the British LCM 3 in my LCM Trio post in the features section, so I showed this one rolled up.
If you can't find any over there let me know and I'll cut out a section and post it over (it was a big scarf we used around the neck and too throw over ones webbing).
Again, many thanks for your comments, much apprecaited.
Cheers

Hi Cheyenne,
Thanks for your kind comments. Once the second boat gets started, I'll have to start gathering up the materials for the pier. At least I have the base sorted out so that's a start.
I ran a good post and got a lot of info about materials so that will help a lot.
It's the small things that sometimes take forever to get organised LOL, LOL.
Cheers

Hi Dave,
If they pass your muster, that's good enough for me. Gray helmets and OD ammo boxes, :-) :-) thanks for that.

Hi Claude and Jean,
Thanks for your feedback. RIfle slings my least favourity thing LOL, LOL. I'm working on a USN crewman who will be invloved in weapon cleaning hence the MG's/rifles sitting on the engine top. If he works out OK some will have slings and some not. I kinda want to show the craft loading and preparing for sea if you know what I mean. I also want to add some US Engineers on the LCP (R) as that is the sort of role it was used for, as well as many others, so some more engineer type kit needs to go into it and a few suitable troops as well.
Glad you liked the boats.
Cheers

Super job Al. I never really paid much attention to these kits, but you certainly have done a outstanding job on them!

Hi John,
Glad you like them and thanks for your comments. Boats can be a lot of fun, just take up more room though :-) :-)

Just put me in the same line of really impressed guys. Really really first rate on the weathering. I was going to ask what was up with the rear door of the ambulance until I realzed that what I was seeing was one of the gun shields for the 50cal's. I had thought to do something just like this when the LCM fist came out. I had a dodge ambulance built and the medic jeep kit. I was going to do mine beach front though. and leaning more on transfering stretchers on board. Bought all sorts of medics to get guys on stretchers....American, British, and German.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your comments they are much appreciated.
That sounds like a great dio, you could do a Regimental Aid Post on the beach with the Dodge and Jeep as you say, even include a DUKW for taking off the walking wounded with the stretcher cases being loaded onto the boat. Great - go for it.
You could even have a line of ordinary GIs marching though the RAP up towards the beach exit.
Yip, I like your idea a lot, with the mix of troops you spoke of that would look really great.
Cheers

Greetings all,
Well I've started the 3rd boat, thinking ahead what do you think might work best for a load, it will be a British craft and I was thinking either a Staghound Armoured Car or well loaded Bedford Truck??
Any thoughts.
Cheers
