Today was the last great battle between mighty battleships. I find it ironic that, at the time, in the age of modern sea power, the combatants were considered obselete, built for World War 1.
Old warhorses never die. They stick around until you need them.

Pearl Harbor veterans pounding the ancient Japanese Pagoda masted relics....still, it would have been magniicent to be sitting up in the hills on the shore line observing this. If I'm not mistaken this was a night action so itreally would have been quite a spectacle

First contact of the Japanese was by PTs then tin cans and cruisers. The battle began around midnight on the 24th.
