Ahoy mates. I'm working on my USS Hornet at Leyte Gulf. I know that the TBFs and Sb2Cs were in the three color camo. I'm curious to know it the F6Fs were in 3 color also.

F6F colors

Gator, I can honestly say that I can't find a reference photo at all to help us out with this one. . .maybe Merlin and the wingnuts over at Aeroscale can lend an answer.

It's hard to get the wing nutz to answer a question. Best guess is they were still three color camo. The F6F book I have shows one in 3 color in May of 1944 and the next time they talk about color is 1945 navy blue.

When it comes to Hellcats, I've almost always gone with the Dark Sea blue topside and a real light grey almost white underneath. I have seen the 3 tone scheme , so i don't think you can go wrong either way. I thnk in 45 they went with all over dark sea blue. The hard part for me was decideing on gloss or flat
