A little update:
- Have "sinken" the hull more into the water;
- Added the remaining plastic parts, with the exception of one torpedo to be monted on a small crane;
- Added the forecastle raillings;
- Removed and glued the main compass structure properly.
And a little artistic photo
More photos in the dedicated gallery
As usual, comments/critics most Welcome!!
Cheers

Hi Mark and Jean-Bernard [and the rest... ]
Thanks for your comments and incentives!
First I would like to say that this is the first time I attempted to make anything like this... so it's a learning process all along!
Second, I try to make it a little bit dynamic... Me, JBA and others have discussed that shipmodels in a diorama are always "limited" - strait lines, diagonals across the base and that's it... With this I tried to prove that a third dimension can be accomplished and give it a little more fun and dramatic
Third - the colours... Sea can take a huge amount of colours!
For instance, I live 500 meters from the ocean and I have seen it "caribean like", completely flat and transparent waters, greenish, brownish and blue - all the shades you can imagine... the point is that you need to watch closely, study things and give the same commitment to the base that you are making on the ship (or even better!). The issue here and on other situations that I have made in smaller scales (1/400 in this case, 1/700 in Dreadnoughts Campaign and USS Forrest Sherman review) is... the scale!
You have to make a compromise between what is credible and acceptable - especially the "transparentness" of the water...
I have been writing some things that will be published on a future feature on making sea bases like this... Even this is the first one, already have a lot of "Lessons Learned"!
I am only trying and willing to share with you guys
Once again thank you! I really apreciate your kind words!
