Ok, Gunny, this time you didn't sucker us in as much, you let us know they were Japanese cruisers up front. These are re-releases, aren't they? Any word on what changes, if any, that have been made to the kits?

Hi Rodger!

Correct, mate, re-releases they are, and specifics aren't known yet, but as soon as I get more info, I'll do something more in depth. . .If these re-tooled kits compare to Hasegawas recent re-issues, they should prove to be quite good and interesting, as well!
Cheers,
~Gunny

Aoba and Kinugaza were sister ships. Both were completed in 1927. They only mounted 6 8" guns and 4 4.7" secondary. KInugaza got nailed off of Gaudalcanal in Nov 1942. Aoba almost made it getting sunk in shallow water at Kure at the end of july 1945 They were the first cruisers with mounted catapults in the Japanese Navy.

Sorry to steal your thunder Gator. I have the Conway Navy series.....well 2 out of three of them as I wasn't interested in pre dreadnaught at the time I found them. (Vol 1 was 1860 - 1905)

Great Reference books if you can find them "All the World's Fighting Ships" vol 2 goes from 1906 through 1921, vol 3 from 1922 thru 1946
