hi
I just received a kit I won on ebay, a Tamiya 1/350 Tirpitz. It was a bargain... but my happiness dissapeared quickly after opening the box.....
The kit was mostly already built.. parts broken off, and all the ships rescue and launch boats and both airplanes missing, and one of the two big cranes to lift the airplanes.
The parts which are broken, like all antennas and masts I can probably fix with stretched sprue, but does anybody know where to find replacement or aftermarket 1/350 german launchboats and floatplanes?
maybe I should just forget the whole thing... but I can't.. I want to do her justice and rebuild her as good as possible.
thanks
brgds
Björn

Hi Björn,
My best guess would be casting resin copies from a unbuilt model... since, as far as I know, there aren't any AM parts to suit your request...
Also try to replace the broken masts with brass rod - more consistent and more resistant too
Sorry but I can't help you more
Skipper

That's a tough break, Bjorn. . .
Hope that you didn't give that seller any positive feedback!
I, like Rui, don't know of ANY A/M stuff that will help you out in this case. . .maybe you might have to look for yet ANOTHER kit to make one good one out of two. Sorry that I couldn't be more help, mate.

Thanks for the reply guys..
It looks like she'll just end up as target practice for the airbrush...
Although I did find two Arado floatplanes from l'arsenal, in resin, for 8 €.. but that still leaves me with a lot of blank spots where the boats used to be..
I'm buying no more kits on ebay.

Warvos,
I have the Tamiya 1/350 Tirpitz in a cupboard upstairs somewhere.
It's pretty beat up after a house move several years ago and I have no plans to rebuild it.
Let me have a list of the bits you need and I'll look tomorrow and I'll see if any can be salvaged.
E:mail me your surface address (my profile has the details) or send me a personnal message and I'll be happy to let you have what I've got.

Hey Tom
thanks for your support.
I only briefly had time to check the kit, I'll have more time tomorrow, but I've already seen following:
-all boats missing
-both planes missing
-portside large crane (the body of the crane, is missing, but the arm is loose in the box)
I'll look into it tomorrow-evening to see which small parts might be missing..
Not easy because the kit is almost put together, but in separate bigger chunks...
I'll revert.
Meanwhile, check your pm.
brgds
a happy warvos
